We did it: We surpassed 100 donations on New Year's Eve

We dared you to make a donation to help us make our goal of 100 online donations by 11:59 p.m. on New Year's Eve in the Countdown to 2022, and you did it! There were three donations so close in timing that we couldn't determine which was the defining #100. We have emailed each to ask what compelled them to give in the final hours of the year and why supporting arthritis and related autoimmune research is important to them. We surpassed this online donation goal to close out 2021 and along with these gifts, mailed donations and other fundraising initiatives, we are excited and encouraged about the giving from you throughout the holidays and the end of 2021. We'd welcome hearing from you about why you support the ANRF, arthritis and related autoimmune research via email at Whether you gave in this ask, in 2021, another year or provide support by reading The Chronicle — it matters to us and we welcome your feedback!

CEO, Board and Staff focus on strategic planning

Happy New Year and thank you for being such an important part of the work we do at the ANRF. I can’t properly send 2021 off without recognizing the foundation it will provide for all that is to come in 2022. The ANRF Board of Directors and staff recently met for a day of strategic planning meetings, which was the culmination of work done before hand. Since then, the staff has continued to fine tune what will be a new strategic plan. We are digging deep and challenging ourselves to invest in an even bigger way in research and making an impact. We have no choice.

Açai Bowl: start to an “eat healthy” resolution

It’s the New Year and after a holiday season of indulgence and treats, at the top of many lists is the quintessential resolution “eating healthier.” The Amazonian fruit açai, which comes from a palm tree, continues to become more popular and prevalent because of its nutritional value, including compounds with potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. In this recipe, adding other fruits and toppings adds flavor and nutrition.

The 2022-23 ANRF Research Grant Application deadline is quickly approaching. On January 17th, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. PST, all applications are due for funding for the next year. For 2022-23, there are general arthritis grants (funding for arthritis and related autoimmune disease research) and funding specifically for Psoriatic Arthritis Research. Each grant provides one year of funding for a minimum of $100,000. For complete requirements, policies and to apply, scientists should go to
